I found this page after searching for some kind of help. I am in an extremely emotional abusive marriage. I do have a place to go, no children, thank God, but he is prone to fly into a rage over financial difficulties, or any little thing that upsets him, and of course he takes it out on me. I need to get away from him, but as we are isolated in the country, I can't just run to a neighbor. He has already successfully done all the things coltrolling men do - cut off all my friends, I can't go anywhere alone, he has to drive, he picks up the phone if I'm talking to someone. I am a real estate agent and he comes on all my sales appointments and has ruined more than one sale saying things he shouldn't. He is rude, and a know-it-all and NO ONE in this town likes him. I learned this recently, and it seems I was the last to know - too close to the forest to see the trees. We only have one car. I am afraid to approach this with him - he has no idea I want to divorce him. There is a 25 year age difference, he is older than me. Any advice on how I can get the money to do this would be so appreciated, maybe someone who has been through this could help me. Thank you.
